The company showed up at the bargaining table and seemed somewhat ready to negotiate today. We are working on constructing counter offers that make sense. As we continue to work without a contract you will continue to be covered by the of the rules and protections that were in place before the contract expired.
We have received a great amount of support and fully understand that you stand ready to strike if the company fails to negotiate in a proper manner. Conference calls for Local Presidents will continue to take place. We are not on strike and are giving the company a chance to move its workforce in the right direction. Stay in practice by continuing to mobilize and communicate with your local leaders, they will begin planning the logistics in the event a strike is called during the middle of the work day.
We remain confident that our collaborative and well planned efforts are going to move this Union forward. Despite the company’s rejection of numerous safety related proposals your Union urges you to work safely.
While we are not “business as usual”, we are expected to work under the current terms and conditions of the expired contract.
Thanks to Karen Murphy, CWA Rep for the homemade goodies provided yesterday
